Why The Academy?

Ten Reasons To Train With The Academy Of On-Site Massage

1. A Proven Track Record

Established in 1988, the Academy has trained over 2,000 therapists in On Site Massage (Seated Acupressure) all over the UK and beyond.

2. The Most Thorough Training Available

Our 5 day diploma course represents the most comprehensive training available in the UK today

3. Small Class Sizes

Small class sizes are absolutely critical. There are never more than eight students for each fully qualified teacher on our Seated Acupressure and Reiki courses and never more than ten on our Indian Head Massage courses.

4. A High Level of Support, During and After Your Training

Tutors and the Academy are available to help with any issues before, during and after training.

After the course ends our support continues. Post graduate training opportunities, membership of the On Site Massage Association is available to all qualified On Site therapy Practitioners and work opportunities may arise with the Academy's Corporate Services department .The Academy's teaching team are never more than a phone call away.

5. Minimum Strain Techniques

Massage, if not carried out properly, can be detrimental to the health of the practitioner.

In 2003 we conducted a major review of the techniques of On Site Massage which resulted in a major overhaul of the way some were carried out. All of the techniques we now teach have been checked to ensure they produce minimum strain to the practitioner. A high proportion of those techniques are "zero strain" by using the practitioner's elbows and forearms.

As a result we are able to differentiate ourselves from other trainers still who may still use the original methods for carrying out On Site Massage and which may cause thumb and wrist strain to the practitioner.

We continue to work to develop and improve all the courses we run.

6. Help Getting Work

Our aim is to train you and to see you working and earning money from your new skill.

We have our own Corporate Services department to provide massage services to business and work opportunities for our graduates who are members of OSMA.

We also have close connections to over twenty five On-Site Massage Companies and agencies around the UK who are constantly on the look out for newly qualified practitioners and recommend our training. On completion of their training, every student is provided with details of all these agencies, to give them the best possible chance of securing work.

Our one day course, "Selling On Site Massage to the Corporate Sector", provides advice on how to sell the concept and practise of massage to businesses yourself.

7. A Complete Range of Post Qualification Courses

With the Academy, the opportunities for training continue after you complete the diploma course.

We offer a full range of Post Graduation Workshops in On Site Massage including an Additional Skills course, Seated Therapeutic Massage, Hands Free Seated Massage and we are developing more workshops all the time.

8. Discounts on Insurance

We have obtained a significant discount for Comprehensive Malpractice Insurance for On Site Massage Association members.

We also have a limited Chair Hire Scheme.

9. The On Site Massage Association

Our aim is to develop a relationship with our students not just during their training but after it as well.

Once qualified, students have the opportunity to join the On Site Massage Association (OSMA) which brings a range of benefits including a quarterly newsletter, access to an on line message board, preferential insurance rates with Balens Ltd for all your Complementary Therapies, and discounts on further training.
